Egg Cartons
Egg cartons are the egg containers that you typically find in stores. They are the containers that come with the egg. These containers can be made out of recycled plastic, or polystyrene foam. These containers are not very durable and sometimes, you will end up with broken eggs when you buy the eggs from the store.
Case
This is a container made for eggs and the shape resembles a case. There will be a handle and you open the container like you would a suitcase. The drawback of this shape is that not all sizes of eggs fit on the dimples of these containers. I bought extra large eggs and I was not able to close the case because it would squish the eggs.
Egg Dispensers
Egg dispensers often look like egg cartons but these are made out of hard plastic. The hard plastic are very durable and can protect the egg better. However, the plastic can get destroyed or cracked if too much weight is placed on top of the container.
Choosing The Egg Holder Material
Recycled Paper
Recycled paper are the cartons that you get when you buy a dozen or more eggs. The recycled paper will often have a brown color. It is somewhat durable but the paper can bed or get squished. This is not a good material for camping.
Polystyrene foam
If you buy a dozen or more eggs from your local store, you may see this material. The color is often white or blue. This material is a good container for eggs but this is not durable as well. The container can easily get squished which will destroy the eggs inside it.
Clear Plastic
There are a lot of egg holders that are made out of clear plastic. Some are very soft while some are hard. The soft plastics are not that good. Your eggs can still get squished.
Polyethylene Plastic
This is very hard plastic. This material is common to the egg holders that are shaped like a case. This offers very good protection and this material is very good also. Expect the item made out of this material to last for a very long time.

Number Of Eggs
A container can only hold a finite amount of eggs. It is important that you consider this number because you may want to get two or more items if this number is very low. I usually recommend that you get a container or containers that can carry 12 or more eggs to your camping trip.
Size Of Eggs
If you are using a container made out of hard plastic, then keep in mind that not all types of eggs will fit in that container. Some hard plastic containers can only have small to medium sized eggs. It is best that you use the container first before taking it to your camping trip.
See Through
Some containers are made out of see through plastic. This is a great way to see how much eggs you still have left without having to take out the egg container from the cooler.
Carrying Handle
Some egg holders and egg containers have handles so that the user will have an easier time carrying the item. Some also do not have a handle. Having no handles can make the item smaller or more compact. You want items that are compact so that you have more room or space in your cooler.
Dimensions
You have to think about the dimension of the egg holder because your cooler will not have an infinite amount of space. It will have a finite amount. You will put foods, beverages, vegetables, and a lot of other items inside that cooler.

There are different types of materials to choose from. There are steel, plastic, silicone and so on. You can get a steel box and it will work for your eggs as well as long as they are just in the cooler. I prefer plastic. I do not like my eggs to move around. I like them firmly in place so they do not bump into each other. Plastic is pretty good.
Egg Size
You need to think about the size of the eggs that you are going to bring. There are lots of containers that cannot handle extra large jumbo eggs. Most containers can handle large eggs. So you need to keep in mind the size of the eggs because the container is going to be useless if the eggs are too large. Short Review: There are plenty of men and women who really like this egg container. I find the durability to be really good and that the plastic material to be very thick. Made out of high quality PP plastic that is very strong and safe. The see through plastic material is very durable and also this includes a tightly locking lid that protects the eggs. It can hold 60 eggs which is a lot so if you are going to be camping with your family then this is a good choice. Very strong and versatile item.
We have one of the holders with the handles (carrier case). I don’t recall the brand. We’ve tried a few different brands. I don’t like them. The eggs aren’t stable inside and rattle around a fair bit. As well, since they don’t sit snug, I’ve crushed a few eggs trying to close it because they weren’t sitting exactly right for the lid to come down. I have now ordered the Lock & Lock Egg Dispenser you recommened as #1. Hoping it’s a better fit for us.
Hope it works out well for you. There are different sizes of eggs so you can’t put a large or jumbo egg on a small container. Same thing for small eggs on a container made for jumbo eggs. So this maybe the reason why the eggs rattle or you crush them. These egg holders are not perfect but they work well enough for me. Also keep in mind that USA put their eggs inside the refrigerator or cooler while most of the world do not.

I recommend going for the ones that hold a lot of eggs if you are going camping with a lot of people. Seriously, 4 eggs are good enough for only 1 person. It may not even be good enough for 1 person. Although, you can get multiple items. Nevermind then.
I’m stupid, bought something that wasn’t on this list. It turns out that it can only handle small eggs. I tried to put large eggs inside it and they broke.
I got the first item. It is not really meant for camping but we just put this inside the cooler so it is fine. Pretty durable and works well so no complaints here.
