Chimney Mountain is a good hike that is both short and does not have a lot of elevation gain. If people want a quick hike because they do not have a lot of time then this is the hike for them. The trails are very easy to follow and very well maintained. The viewpoint isn’t that big and some of it are blocked by trees but the views are still pretty good. I do not recommend this hike if you want to have a good workout because the hike is pretty short.

Start Of The Hike
There were some mornings were I would hike and watch a thousand mosquitoes buzz around my face. If I ever talk a little or inhale through my mouth, there would be a chance a mosquito would go inside. Today was that kind of day. If I had to do this all over again, I would come here on colder days when these insects would be either dead or asleep.

The slope going to the top was gentle and not too cumbersome to the legs, but the multitude of insects kept buzzing around my face. I couldn’t pay attention to the trails nor the hike, my attention was being diverted to trying to keep these insects from feasting on my body.
Blue Trail
I kept moving upwards, hoping the insects would leave me alone in time but it was of no use. This forest seemed to be a great breeding ground for these insects as the place was moist and wet all the time. The black muddy ground and pools of water could be seen everywhere and these insects prefer these terrain filled with water to lay down their eggs.

I kept moving upwards while trying to ignore the bugs surrounding me. My hiking rain jacket was a good shield against these little bugs that were very annoying. This was all they could do which was too annoy the crap out of me as they couldn’t penetrate the layer of protection that my clothes bring. I climbed higher and higher, hoping they would leave me alone after some time.
Blue Trail
A few more steps and I would be at the viewpoint according to my GPS. I tried to increase my pace but the muddy trail just wouldn’t let me. My boots sank on the soft wet mud and thus I had to spend more energy trying to avoid the mud and the wet soil that was everywhere. Still, I kept going, trying my best to ignore the terrain and insects that were following me.
