Hurricane Mountain Hike

Hurricane Mountain Hike

Hurricane mountain is one of the best hikes for people that have a decent fitness level. It is not that easy and not that hard as well. The views at the top are amazing. People will find that there are plenty of places to sit down and enjoy the view. The viewpoint is very large. This is also a very popular hike. When I did it, there were so many people at the top even then I still managed to find a spot and be able to take pictures with ease.

Start Of The Hike

It was the last hike of the year for me and the parking lot was full. I always wanted to hike alone so that I could take pictures with ease but today was Friday with peak foliage in the Adirondack Mountains. Most of the hiking trails today were packed and full of tourists, hikers and photographers. This trail was no different as I saw a line of parked cars as far as my eye could see.

Red Trail

The first ascent of the hike and it was right off the beginning. There was no time to warm up the body nor to get the body accustomed to the hike and ascents that I would be doing. I prepared all that I could, there was nothing left to do but keep going upwards and try to decrease the distance between the top and my position as time passed by.

Red Trail

Fall foliage arrived at the Adirondack Mountains once more with red and pink leaves scattered through out the footpath like a beautiful carpet dressed in red just for me. I walked slowly, just trying to appreciate nature and the hike that I found myself in.

Red Trail

The slopes and inclines didn’t stop nor slowed down but the cold air that permeated through the forest somehow helped me conserved my energy by cooling my body. I kept going, kept moving, one step at a time. I tried not to think about it and just kept moving towards the top.

The sky didn’t look friendly at all as I arrived at a viewpoint. It looked angry and sorrowful as if it was going to let out a big cry.

The steep footpath went on and on, without any signs of ending at all. I was hiking for 4 days straight and fatigue seemed to have accumulated within my body and it never really went away. Each step felt heavy and sluggishness emanated from my very being as I huffed and puffed white smoke from my mouth due to the cold air that lingered in the forest.
