Sleeping Beauty And Fishbrook Pond Hike

Sleeping Beauty Hike

This is a very short and sweet hike that lots of people are doing. One of the most popular hikes in Lake George. Expect lots of families or people at the top during the weekends especially around hiking seasons or when the weather is very nice. People do not need to go to the pond to do the hike. They can just go to the viewpoint in Sleeping Beauty and then go back down to lower the miles or distance.

Start Of The Hike

Hiking has left me satisfied and fulfilled, and this hike was no different. It was a rough start though as the road to the parking lot was rather bumpy and my car was too low for the terrain. My hiking friends were very patient as I slowly drove the car to the parking lot as I avoided the pot holes and big rocks that were on the way. I tried my best not to hit the hikers on the road as well. It appeared that they did not know they could park closer as such they had to walk an extra mile to the trail head.

Yellow Trail

The first mile was rather easy, a slight ascent every now and then but nothing too hard nor too worrisome. The forest had that bright glow in it, an aura of friendliness rather than unpredictability, a place that people could hike with ease rather than worrying about the terrain or other surprises.

I took a deep breath and prepared my body for the ascent. The flat footpath that we loved so much changed and turned into an ascent. There was no escaping it, we had to go up, around 500 feet worth of elevation gain in order to get to the viewpoint. I strapped on the hip belt of my hiking backpack, kept it close to my spine, and centered the weight to my hips in order to give me an easier time hiking to the top.

Blue Trail

More mud could be seen the further I get up the mountain. We were all still very refreshed and full of energy as we tried our best to avoid the muddy trail that was in front of us. We planned to hike 3 different places today as such, conserving energy was utmost importance and these muddy trails could consume our energy unnecessarily if we don’t tackle them carefully.
