She dropped her body

She dropped her body and just laid on top of me. I sensed her hands squirming under the bed, and finally resting them on the back of my shoulders. I felt the weight of her body on my chest, her forehead on my chin, and her legs wrapping around mine. The scent of her hair smelled nice, like the shampoo and conditioner that she just bought. I could barely see her but I have known this pattern of hers as she had done it from time to time.

When life gets tough, expectations turn into disappointments, or just a bad day at work, she would lay on top of me as if she was trying to get her confidence and strength back so that she could face the world again. I did not mind at all as I think this is what I was born to do. Just to be there for her when she needs me, to share the bad and good times with her, and just give her comfort and assurance that everything will be okay.

She held my body tighter, trying to get as much warmth as possible. “I’m sorry for making things hard for you”, she whispered.

“It is okay, I like being your pillow,” I replied.

I hugged her with both of my arms, then caressed her back until she fell asleep.
