How are people getting hacked? People I know kept getting their credit cards stolen, bank accounts, social security and so on. My parents don’t even have computers and their information got hacked.
I have a free anti-virus called AVG, I use chrome for youtube and to go to my bank accounts. I use firefox for anime, movies, and novels and stuff due to so many ads. I use ad blockers on all of them. I never got hacked.
The only time I got hacked was when I downloaded this software that this youtube guy recommended. Sometimes I need software that can do a specific task like upscale images or rename files the way I want. He looked like a guy that was very informative on this field so I thought it was trust worthy. It turns out, his youtube got hacked so I downloaded a trojan that basically shutdown my computer, took control of my browser and transferred all of my password. Good thing my anti-virus picked it up and I still got control of my computer.
I changed my passwords, reinstalled windows. He was able to get through all my sites. Gaming sites, amazon, gmail, and so on. He wasn’t able to get to my bank accounts though. He tried to send himself $100 amazon gift card but amazon stopped it and gave me back the money. My bank accounts never got hacked and my credit cards never got hacked. I was glad that he wasn’t able to lock me out of my computer. He was just able to control my browser. I completely reinstalled everything and never had a problem since.
I use paypal though to pay for everything online. I don’t put my credit cards to any site other than amazon.
